About Facilitator: Laura King

A resident of West Harlem since 2015, Laura King has a BS degree in environmental science and an extensive background in artmaking and teaching. She loves New York’s urban culture and color, while she is equally passionate about finding and celebrating nature in the city. Laura is a volunteer gardener at the Hamilton Grange, a certified animal rescuer, and an artist who takes delight in illuminating the natural beauty that can be found EVERYWHERE in our urban jungle. Her drawings express her love for nature on many levels, and she aims wholeheartedly to spark that joy and appreciation in her students, too.

If you want to draw from a photo, feel free to bring your own photos or black-and-white photocopies.

Just like your handwriting is unique, so is your drawing style. Laura will help you express your inner artist!

The way we sketch can match our mood – these quick model sketches are from Laura’s notebook.
