About the facilitator:

Angela “Angy” Abreu is a community organizer and the driving force behind impactful cultural and literary initiatives in New York City’s Uptown neighborhoods. In 2014, she co-founded Wordat4F, a grassroots traveling open mic series that blends community activism with the arts, nurturing an appreciation for spoken word, poetry, and literature. Her passion for elevating underrepresented voices led her to play a pivotal role in creating spaces that celebrate and support the Dominican community’s rich cultural heritage. While Angy’s work with the Dominican Writers Association showcases her commitment to literary development, her broader achievements emphasize professional growth for creatives through workshops and cultural programming. Her leadership in these areas not only enriches the cultural fabric of her community but also establishes a legacy of empowerment and creative expression.

Professional Development @ The Children’s Art Carnival are made possible with funding from West Harlem Development Corporation.
