WCBS-TV’s local news recently featured a Black History Month story highlighting The Children’s Art Carnival and Tim Fielder’s exhibition, “The Comet Cometh.”
Titled “Harlem community gives context to Black history’s complexities in America,” the story showcases Tim Fielder, a CAC Alumni, along with his exhibition “The Comet Cometh.” and CAC Board Member, Donna Jones.
“The Comet Cometh” adapts Black intellectual W.E.B. Du Bois’ seminal science fiction short story, “The Comet,” into the graphic novel format. W.E.B. Du Bois, known for his significant influence on the American Civil Rights movement and co-founding of The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), created one of the first Afrofuturist narratives with “The Comet.” The exhibit will showcase all the sequential art that tells this powerful story in a unique way for the ages.
